Ballroom Dancing in the 21st Century

The style of dance known as Ballroom Dancing may bring images to your mind of ball gowns, tails and elaborate dance halls. Whilst ballroom dancing does still show elements of its traditional roots, in today's society, Ballroom Dancing is now considered a Sport due to its high energy, fast speed and physical fitness elements. Competitive Ballroom Dancing has now been renamed “DanceSport” which represents its unique combination of both being a sport while maintaining its traditional art form.
